Mahmoud number one in Basketball Africa League for round 5- April 12, 2022
The 26-year old player had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Cobra (#5, 0-1) with 17-point margin 80-63. Zamalek is placed at 3rd position in Basketball Africa League. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Zamalek won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. It was one of impressive evenings for Mahmoud as usually he does not deliver so high stats. The second best player in last round's games was young German Jone Lopes (208-C-1990) of league's second-best P.Luanda. Lopes had a very good evening with 8 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course he led P.Luanda to another comfortable win outscoring Cape Town T. (#4, 0-1) 90-61. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. P.Luanda consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Lopes is well-known at P.Luanda and is a proven leader in his second season with the team. Third on the list of top players last round was Australian forward Mayan Kiir (206-F/C-1998) of Cobra (#5). Kiir scored 18 points and grabbed twenty two rebounds (!!!). Despite Kiir's great performance Cobra lost 63-80 to the league's current leader Zamalek (#3, 1-0). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The season just started for Kiir as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader. Other top performing players last week: 4. Brice Eyaga (205-C-1998) of FAP - 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Carlos Morais (200-G-1985) of P.Luanda - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Nkosinathi Sibanyoni (G/F-1998) of Cape Town T. - 10 points and 11 rebounds 7. Leon Hampton (213-C-1995) of Cobra - 10 points and 5 rebounds 8. Olimpio Cipriano (194-F-1982) of P.Luanda - 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists 9. Rolly Fula (198-F-1993) of Fukash - 12 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists 10. Joel Almeida (195-F-1985) of FAP - 23 points The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
